Series Mania Season 8

After seven riveting seasons, Series Mania has established itself as the annual event dedicated to the TV series format for both the general public and the wider industry.
Having welcomed almost 40,000 spectators and 1,300 industry execs in 2016, the festival is widening out its ambitions this year with a raft of new features, extending its reach outside of the French capital.

The official competition for world- and international-premiere screenings is even bigger in 2017. This year, Damon Lindelof, the celebrated co-creator of Lost and The Leftovers will head the jury, following in the footsteps of showrunner David Chase in 2016.
Festival-goers are invited to range of special screenings with exclusive premiere showings of brand-new episodes of some of the latest hit shows. There is plenty on offer to delight the very keenest of small-screen addicts!

To reflect the explosion of new short formats available on mobile, Series Mania is also hosting a competition for world-premiere screenings of web and digital series, to be judged for the first time by an industry jury.

The festival will also dedicate a section to those cult series that have marked our collective imagination and the story of our love affair with the format.

Pleasing the audience is one of the key missions of the Series Mania festival.

With more locations, more theaters, and more extensive screening hours, around 150 sessions have been scheduled for this year’s edition.
This will provide plenty of opportunities for fans to fully discover the festival’s new enriched program.

Series Mania has also developed a reputation for the large number of prestigious guests it attracts. It’s a unique place to meet creators, actors, and producers. And don’t forget all the themed conferences on offer, providing some sharp and original analysis.
We’ll see you in April at the series event of the year! And make sure your diary is to hand – you only have 10 days to discover the very best TV has to offer, showcased for your viewing pleasure on the big screen !

Series Mania is boosting its capacity by offering this year’s 150 screenings in theaters at the Forum des Images and partner theaters like the Grand Rex for the opening night,
UGC Ciné Cité Les Halles, UGC Normandie, the Pompidou Center and the Luminor Hôtel de Ville. This year, the festival is also hosting events under the Canopy of the Forum des Halles and for the first time, beyond the confines of Paris,
thanks to a partnership with UGC Ciné Cité Rosny.

This year again the Franco-American Cultural Fund supported this edition by inviting Damon Lindelof who was president of the jury of  2017.

Introduced in 2016, the Official Competition of world and international premieres this year features an expanded selection of 10 series. After David Chase, this year Damon Lindelof, the talented showrunner of Lost and The Leftovers, will be jury president. Alongside him will be four renowned artists, who between them will decide on the Grand Prix, the Special Jury Prize, and two new awards this year, Best Actor in an International Series and Best Actress in an International Series.

Damon Lindelof was born in New Jersey to a schoolteacher and a banker. He was also born a writer, although it would take over 25 years to figure that out. In 2004 he met writer-director-producer J.J. Abrams to create a television series about the survivors of a mysterious plane crash – Lost. After six years, a hundred and twenty episodes, and many unanswered mysteries, Damon finally left the island. Since then, he has worked as a writer and producer on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, World War Z, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness and Tomorrowland.

He is currently writing and producing the third and final season of HBO’s critically-acclaimed drama series The Leftovers, which he fiercely defends as “not as depressing as everyone says.” He also wrote this bio.
