Laura Blum-Smith

Laura Blum-Smith is the Research & Public Policy Director for the Writers Guild of America West. A graduate of Oberlin College, Laura has ten years of experience in the Guild’s Research department, which she has overseen through the 2020 and 2023 bargaining cycles, including the 2023 strike. Laura’s work for the Guild has included challenging media mergers, advocating for increased competition in the entertainment and telecommunications industries, and strategic research in support of union campaigns.
