Created in 1996 at the initiative of Sacem, the FCFA is a unique collaboration between the Société des Auteurs, Compositeurs, et Editeurs de musique (Sacem), and the two American guilds, the Directors Guild of America (DGA) and the Motion Picture Association (MPA), later joined by the Writers Guild of America West (WGAW). The FCFA is financed by resources from private copying tax in France. Its mission is to foster cultural exchange between France and the United States, based on a shared passion for film and television creation.
